Eccentric kinda guy but you can't knock what he has done for charity (or BR - let the train take the strain). At 84 he had a very good innings. Bless him.

Sad to here that John.....grew up with Jim'l fix it.........
He did an amazing amount of work for charities.....

Anyone remember the british rail adverts...?

Thanks DS - I think that's me corrected (unless Sir Jimmy did both ???) Blimey - he was looking young in that one.
While I checked out your vid I found this:-

I had forgotten about the BR adverts, I was remembering all the marathons he ran and his work as a porter at Stoke Mandeville hospital.  Shame he died a couple of days before his birthday.

Another national institution lost. RIP Sir Jimmy. Thanks for the memories.

Now then now then, as it happens I never did write my letter to Jim'll fix it. How many forum members did write, what did you ask for and did you get one of those badges?

Now then, now then boys and girls, sad news indeed. :(  Sir Jimmy will be missed by a lot us.
I was never tempted to write to Jim'll Fix It but always watched it as it was essential viewing to us kids back then.
(Tempted to go on Swap Shop if it ever came nearby but figured my dad would kill me if I swapped my bike for an action man!  :smiley-laughing:)
R.I.P Jim, your'll always be remembered, especially by those of us who grew up in the 1970's/80's.
