:sorrysign: no :greatpicturessign: but 68s arrived today - wow all round and feel and run the part.
Packaging includes a 26 page booklet - good read and DCC information really useful.
like the real thing big, powerful, smooth and great beasts !!  However unlike the real thing quiet. - DCC sound required !!

The feel quality and build quality puts paid to old school era at Dapol.

I do not normally post in this thread, but I had to show my latest purchase, which arrived from the Netherlands today. It is a Kato Class 66 in the livery of Opel/GM, second hand and DCC ready.

Probably should be posted under show your latest continental purchase?    I do like the Kato 66s, very smooth and reliable. The scale difference compared to Farish and Dapol is very evident!

About this last, there is a thread of mine for comparison

When Colin Heard released the Dean Goods, I bought a green Great Western 2576 and mentioned to Colin that it was a shame he had settled on BR black for the 2516 as it had been allocated to Carmarthen before the war and would have run on my Carmarthen to Aberystwyth line.
Today the postman brought a package from the IoM containing a Great Western 2516!  :claphappy: :bounce: :claphappy:

How's that for personal service!

Perhaps the proof that there is intelligent life in outer space is that they haven't contacted us.

A lucky day for me today, someone I know offered me a job lot of N gauge bits from a layout that has been broken up & I got the lot for a very good price. Sadly some things are broken or damaged as they were all just chucked in a box but some can be repaired hopefully, if not will be useful for something. No locos but a few good wagons & buildings & loads of detailing bits of use for my layout build.  :claphappy:

Will be sorting through it all to see what I need/don't need soon  :)

Cheers, Stu

Looks like some handy bits 'n' pieces there, Stu. :hmmm:

Yeah, I bought the lot as it was cheap & there were some useful bits in there I will need for the layout. The wagons are all in good condition & fit in the era I'm modelling & some of the buildings I will use on the layout. Whatever's left that I don't need can always go in the spares box or be sold/passed on to someone. I don't often come across bargain job lots like this.

Cheers, Stu

RailGooner

Dapol 2D-022-003 Class 68 010 'Oxford Flyer' Chiltern Railways new from ebay.

A £110 (inc. P&P) bargain. Well chuffed.

Latest ebay purchase and another diversion from my usual european collecting: this time a Minitrix 47. Not particularly rare or anything, but 35 years old and looks like it's almost never been run - just look at the "as new" wheels and traction tyres!  I love old Minitrix stuff, despite any inaccuracies. They work well, and that's the most important thing for me.

Intercity

The motive power Dept have been busy with a few new allocations to the fleet, a new class 68 has arrived:

Also joining it is a DB red class 67:

And an original EWS class 66:

And for the railtour excursions, specials and stand in duty a pair of veteren 56s:

And finally an Intercity DVT:

I know they span a couple of eras, and one of the 56s needs renumbering, but rule one applies.

Quicknick

Running in a parallel universe to my N scale Truro, is a plan for a future O gauge layout!

The big brother was a bargain from DCC Supplies, at about 75GBP, whilst the Farish little brother was purchased out here in Auz, D3729, Farish 371-022, weathered. The 08 was purchased for the early diesel era fleet I want to create.

The Farish 08 came fitted with a DCC Concepts ZN6D decoder, which proved troublesome with an NCE Pro Cab system. I have since fitted a Digitrax DZ126, and it runs perfect. Not a fan of the ZN6D, maybe a CV issue.

@Intercity I've just watched the review of the new 68 on Simon's Shed's latest channel offering. Although I am not a fan of modern traction, it does indeed look like an exquisite model.

Lovely looking loco David.
They look do good, thanks to Colin, and all my UM models are crying out for loco crew as the footplates (feetplate?) are so open.  I've painted six sets of crew, and put them safely away when I had to clear the modelling stuff for family coming for Christmas... Spring is here and I still can't find them!
