"Itís shocking, crushing news," Petty's friend and Traveling Wilburys bandmate Bob Dylan tells Rolling Stone in a statement. "I thought the world of Tom. He was a great performer, full of the light, a friend, and Iíll never forget him."

Bob speaks for us all. I'm hoping against hope...

He performed some great songs. Full Moon a Fever is one of my favourite albums. He also formed the Travelliní Wilburys. A sad loss.
I'm not sure if life is passing me by, or trying to run me over.

I remember the first time I heard 'Damn the Torpedoes', 'Refugee' in particular. Prior to then my musical tastes were limited to the pop and punk of the day, his songs opened my mind to other musical genres. RIP
