wagons built in the early 1980s

hi,

can anyone name some british wagons that were built in the early 1980s?

i've got:-

VGA Vans
JGA Hoppers (or maybe these were later on...?)
CDA Hoppers (China Clay)

i want to find some wagons that would have gone through acceptance testing in the early / mid 1980s....

sorry it's nothing specific to n gauge this post....

The JGA's are right but it depends on what version has there many different ones for different uses

Not sure if you are looking for wagons that were in use during the 1980s or specifically built in the 1980s
My favourite in the 1980s was the British Steel PTA, which operated between Hunterston and Ravenscraig, quite unique in that they had outer (buffers and screw coupling at one end) and inner (no buffers) wagons
I hope to add a rake of these in due course, Lima produced them in OO gauge and I hope either Dapol or Farish do in due course
Next to that is the old faithful HAA, HDA, and HFA

Next were the BAA and BBA steel carriers, which operated south along the WCML
Again, I hope a RTR version of these follows in due course

the reason i'm looking for wagons that were built in the 1980s is that i have a RTC autocoach that was apparently used for new wagon acceptance testing, so i was wondering what i could run with it.

Ah, then you'll want info from the horses mouth. Dave Coxon spent most of his working life in railway vehicle testing and vehicle commissioning for the old British Rail organisation based at Derby.

yes that's the website where i first read about wagon acceptance testing when i googled the rtc wagons, and i also got that small book about derby rtc as well by colin marsden. the problem is i can't actually see pictures from the 1980s with any wagons coupled up to the autocoach so don't know what to buy to run with it. i was planning to run it with 1 or 2 'new build' wagons (coupled up to the viewing end of the autocoach) and then a class 25, 31 or 37 in blue as the motive power (not the 24 in rtc livery as that costs too much... but i can pretend they just borrowed another loco as i'm sure happened).
