A good week
« on: June 10, 2012, 10:17:34 pm »
I started off last weekend by winning these:

I won this steam loco and tender at less than a third of the new price.

I am going to rename this tender with Baltimore and Ohio lettering.

I have been after one of these Doodlebugs in this livery for well over a year.
They have either been faulty or gone way above my budget.

Untill today - this is the one I won   ;D  ;D  ;D

A better picture of one.

I have a coach that will go behind the doodlebug for the rush hour rabble  :smiley-laughing:

When they all arrive I will post a video of them running

cheers John.

Hi John,

Well done. I like the steamie. Was that the doodlebug that started at 19.99? I saw it but It's not somthing I really need, unless I repaint it in BAR colours. :smiley-laughing:

Hi Alex,

The listing shows it started at 20 so could be the same one.
There was a passenger car in a separate listing from the same seller as well.

cheers John.

Nice buys John  I found the Bachmann Northern is a very nice runner, the one I have has faulty running gear but still runs OK for 6 quid I cant complain, if you ever do need spares you know where to find them as mine is now a static display
Keep on Smiling

I spotted those too John but decided agin bidding (SWMBO would kill me to death)

Word of caution on the Doodlebug, if it is one of the older models, you will have to strip it down and lube every moving part possible (if it has not been done) one of the lads on trainboard mentioned this to me when we were discussing Doodlebugs.  As for a coach, any heavyweight will go with it

The bidding was at 20 right up till the last few seconds, I had already placed my max bid and fortunately it was above the bid placed.  I did think I was going to get it for 20 but at least it was free p&p.

Thank you for the tip about lubrication, they did say in the description it ran well in both directions but I shall see what it is like when it gets here.

I now have everything crossed off my B&O wish list apart from the B&O Blue - lovely looking train  ;)

Crikey not you to Lawrence, my SWMBO nearly hit the roof when I told her I was modifying the shed to build another layout over the top of the existing one.

She has a long memory of me telling her that I was unhappy with Hornby OO Gauge locos and said if she has to go through hearing me swearing at trains in the shed again she is going to make an Oleander Soup to kill me off, needless to say the idea has been shelved.
Keep on Smiling
Dave.

Hi Alex,

Apologies, my bad description, I would like one of these  :P

Plus Daughters have the loco and tender for 50  :o
I want the whole train and it looks like I will have to save up, order it from the US and cough up the duty

cheers John.

Ohhhh, that looks nice  :P

I'm sure Plus Daughters will be at Perth on 23/24 this month. If your going maybe you could haggle. What's the cost from the States?

I'm sure one of those sets came up on Vectis not long ago John, might be worth keeping an eye on them.  I have seen them on fleabay but they are not really my cup of tea, but another one to keep an eye on is http://stores.ebay.co.uk/The-Favorite-Spot?_rdc=1

Hi Alex,
They only have the loco and tender and I don't want the extra hassle of finding the coaches separate.  I won't be going to Perth, still have my leg raised for the best part of the day.
The prices in the US vary from seller to selller.

I got my two old timer locos plus a few other pieces of rolling stock from The Favorite Spot Lawrence.  They do a very fast service and I have always been impressed with them.  I spent a while the other night going through their listings - nothing on tv  :(
I have not heard of Vectis before but I will Google it once I have posted this  ;)

cheers John.
