Cheers Guys. Never realised we'd so much "young" talent on the forum.
Playing guitar has saved my soul and sanity at times so I'd advise all of you trying, to keep at it - keeps you a teenager in your head, even if the old body has rusted up!
"What can a man do but play his old guitar;
At least that is until the old arthritis gets too far.
I aint no Jimmy Hendrix, or a second Jeff Beck,
Just a sad old, mad old bluesman - and this is as good as it's going to get!"

As for motorbikes - well I've fell off them and these days I just don't bounce like I used to!

I played my first gig for 5 years on New Years Eve. I'm 69 and nearly the youngest in the band.....

The Essex genius Micky Jupp sums it all up  in his great song below - listen to it on Youtube!

OLD ROCK 'N' ROLLER .
By Mickey Jupp

I getting too old - I'm way out of touch
I don't play guitar - I use it as a crutch
As for my singing - well that ain't up to much

I'm getting too old - it ain't my scene
I ain't done this kind of thing since I was seventeen
But the man said do it - or you don't get a bean

So I do it, do it until I'm blue in the face
Sing and play guitar and jump all over the place

Sing some heavy lyrics and some chords to suit
Nobody even knows I'm as pissed as a newt
I've been backstage drinking and watching the clock
I'm an old rock and roller and I'm too old to rock

I'm getting too old - it ain't my gig
The music's too loud and the hall's too big
The sounds I like - well, you wouldn't dig
I'm and old rock and roller and my time has gone
I stopped buying records back in 1961
But seeing as I'm here, well, the show must go on

So I do it, do it 'til I'm blue in the face
Sing and play guitar and jump all over the place

Sing some heavy lyrics and some chords to fit
The trouble with me is I don't know when to quit
I forget how many times I've been told
I'm an old rock and roller and I'm too old to roll!

I'm an old rock and roller
I'm an old rock and roller
I'm an old rock and roller
I'm an old rock and roller
I forgot the words like old rock and rollers do

I'm an old rock and roller
I'm an old rock and roller
I'm an old rock and roller
I'm an old rock and roller
I'm an old rock and roller - and I love to roll

Yer never too old to Rock 'n roll - me, I'm just coming up to 69; still playing but no star jumps or going down on me knees fer solos! An I must be getting old cos I don't like loud noises and think all modern music is rubbish!

Love the song - here's one of mine.

THE OLD HIPPY

I’m just a tired old hippy; clearly I’m outta my time.
I think I may have peaked one day, back in nineteen sixty nine.
Looking back on that golden age, the sun seemed to shine every day
We were young and free, in the prime of our lives, and man, we made some hay.

We wore our hair long and bell bottom jeans; tie dye t-shirts and strings of beads
For free love and  hope and universal peace. Well we were young and had young people’s dreams.

We sat cross legged on the ground , in a pychedelic haze
“Peace Man! All you ever need is love!”  we said
as the soulful music played

John and Frank and Jimi and Bob played.
It was real cool heady stuff
We went off in silver spaceships in our heads.
Enough was never enough.

I played loud music in a rock ‘n roll band; doing starjumps and windmilling my arms.
These days I sit down and play soft mellow jazz; violent movement brings physical alarms.

The Summer of love and rebellion, thought the party would go on an on
But the revolution never happened; Jimi died and they went and shot John.
But all things must pass as reality calls, eventually all songs were sung.
I guess it was just smoke and mirrors, but you can’t see the cracks when you’re young

But time moves on, and so does the sun and clouds roll across the sky
The world’s still full of greed and hate; you have to wonder why?
“Damn the establishment!” what we said; we weren’t gonna play their old game.
But I guess we just made all the same old mistakes and nothing much seems to have changed.

So now I’m just a tired old hippy; clearly I’m outta my time.
I think I may have peaked one day, back in nineteen sixty nine.

Another old rocker here, T120 Bonneville in 1968, had a couple of bikes since, a Honda 400F and more recently a Honda CBR600, sad, none now for over ten years. Try to play guitar but the son is better, so mainly stick to keyboards. I like most types of music, not into rap, and only like some country. Went to see Deep purple before christmas on their final tour, not bad,all the stuff came back loved it.

Used to play in a band many years ago called Grit Yer Teeth. A very apt name.

Been a biker for 35 years. Spent far too much on bikes. Currently riding a honda cbr600f but wanting to change it. Maybe a zzr1400 but perhaps 200bhp is a tad over the top for a bike?

200bhp.   :o  Blimey; that's about four Manx Nortons' worth!

Must have jolly good tyres to cope with all these horses...

Best wishes.

The Table-Top Railway is a train set trying and failing to be a model railway.

I believe that train sets and model railways are fun.

With 1400cc and 200bhp (think of the power to weight ratio!) one pack wouldn't last very long at all :worried:

Well I took the plunge and bought one. It arrived last Thursday but I haven't ridden it yet because of the weather.
I note that some on here used to have Triumphs.
It may be of interest to know Triumph have very much been resurrectcted.
They sold 65,000 bikes last year.
