« on: January 02, 2018, 09:27:55 am »
Changing the thread a bit but Im never sure how to start a new thread .
Has anyone any views on using the Ten Commandments track cleaner I know it  its now available in N gauge but just wondered how effective it is .
Its about 40 so just a bit cheaper than some of the other units mentioned.

I bought one at the Peterborough show.
It's OK, though not as good as cleaning the track by hand.
It may be designed for keeping the muck levels down once the track has been properly cleaned.
One problem it does have, is that the cleaning pad does catch on the "fiddly bits" on points.

a s/h Tomix is about 40.( but you have one already!!)

Also a home made sled is easy to build, and Noch axle mounted brushes are a good buy (8 a set) or so.

Here's a link to the cleaning wagon Bob referred to in his OP....

I share the concerns of snagging on points and also doubt cloth without some form of cleaner would be up to the job :hmmm:

I looked at them at the Stafford show. They were demoing them using a circular layout. They looked reasonably effective because the pads are held down by a semicircular plastic former with ball bearings inserted inside. However, the fabric would probably catch on point work.
