Japanese electric locomotives of the Spanish Railways. (renfe)
« on: December 05, 2017, 07:47:48 pm »
Since 1967 the widest park of Renfe electric locomotives has been manufactured by Mitsubishi in the beginning, and under license by Spanish manufacturers. I am not sure if other Continental European railways have, or have had, Japanese electric loss, but I am sure that far from the number of engines present in Spain. Many are still unduly, and along the years have showed several liveries. The last one, while with purple strips, is known as Renfe Operadora or Pantone.

Let show you one of my Japanese, this one in the Renfe Operadora livery hauling a daytrain as it as common to see in the early 2000s.

Very nice. The RENFE class 251 is also based on a Japanese design...the EF66. I believe this is also available in N gauge

I used to like seeing the 251s. They ran around Leon, not far from the Ponferrada steam line.

Gordon has confirmed. Very good in details and powerful. Recently I hanged a short video of one of the three I got. This is the original livery. Here it is:

There is another video in my recent uploads where this loco appears.

They are great-looking locos (the EF66 actually won a design award in Japan)

Yup, if Westerns were Japanese they’d be EF66s :)

Sadly the 0-series EF66s have now all but vanished from service.
