They are both 20m chassis. Looks like the difference might be in the wheelbase but it is hard to tell with photos provided.

Bob, you are right. Looked at carefully you can see that the 5716 has slightly longer axle spacing. I shall call you Hawkeye from now on!!!

Hi Jon,

I've been steadily collecting the bits to convert Farish Mk1s to a class 120 and a class 123. Ends and undergubbins from BHE, green vinyls from Electra, odd bits from BR Lines etc.

I decided not to buy the chassis until I had everything else. It took a while to get 7 Mk1s at a price I was prepared to pay, then Adam had to update his vinyls but they've now arrived, so chassis time!!!

Cool!

Is there a thread?

Are you already good at applying the vinyls?  I have had some experience on my 323 and 304 as well as a class 90, and I have some theories about how to avoid some of the pitfalls.

Did you consider the "Hedges" method of shortening a 158/170 chassis?

Cheers Jon  :)

Sorry no thread - I don't do stuff like that.

Yes I've done a few vinyls already and am OK with it.

I did think about using a 158/170 but haven't found donors at a reasonable price.

cheers Norman
