Any rail move

Ive got Anyrail (paid version) on my steam powered clockwork PC (circa 1912)  but need to tranfer it to my laptop
Both are running windows 7.
There must be a simple way I just cant think of it at the momment. I have pendrives etc to make life easy

Can't you just download it again using the original registration and reinstall it. Copy any layout files across afterwards.

I would think that you would need to copy each and every file, pertinent to Anyrail, onto a memory stick or similar and then copy them onto your laptop. However, Bobs suggestion should work and would be far easier.

Just copying all the system files may not work as installing the program generally modifies the registry as well as installing the files. So reinstalling may be the only solution.

This is true, but programs, when run for the first time, sometimes create registry entries where they do not exist, so I would suggest it's worth a try.

I've just done this. Download your version of anyrail, old versions back to anyrail 3 are still available if your key is for an older version, install and use your existing registration key. Then copy your layout plans over with a USB stick.

My key is for v3 and v4 and not valid for a higher version without an upgrade fee so be sure to download the same version as you are currently using.

When I buy software @jonclox  , I consider a main part of the product I'm buying to be support. I very much doubt that simply copying the program files from computer 'A' to computer 'B' will result in a functional program on computer 'B' - you will need to run the program setup on the new computer.

I suspect that you want to transfer settings and customization you've made while using the program on the old computer. Those settings will normally be in one (or a few) configuration files. If you can't readily find info on moving the configuration file/s on the Anyrail website, I recommend you contact Anyrail support with the specifics of your problem. They were pleased to take your money, they should be pleased to earn it by helping you now.

Unfortunatly its the system files/licence key etc. that we cant trace back. I am seeking advice from Anyrails forum but it needs time for registration to go through

Can't you just email them? This sounds like a company's support issue, not a user community issue.

They should be able to provide your licence key.

The other thing you can check is if you still have an email from Anyrail with the registration key, although I'm sure you would already have done that.

  sorted. They have a designated contact address for situations like this. A mail to them and licence details are re sent to the customer.
