At last I took delivery of my Farish Green 08, after being sent the wrongly boxed 03 last week. I "ran in" the 08 for an hour each way, then put it to the test. Even on my DC layout, I managed to get this little model to operate at a very low speed, wheels hardly turning. I even got it to crawl across an insulfrog point without stalling. Mega impressed with this little beauty and I am looking forward to many hours of shunting and running of this gem of an engine.

Well just in case anyone hasn't seen my posting in the Continental section I thought I would post this here too, as it is regarding a rolling stock purchase - and this has to include a big  :thankyousign: to Kernow Model Rail Centre too!

I ordered a set of PKP Polish coal hoppers from Kernow yesterday (15-3-13) at about 12.30 pm - got an e-mail timed at 12.45 to say that the order was being dealt with. I then got one at 13.50 to say that my order had been despatched.

The postman knocked on the door this morning about 10 minutes ago - and I signed for my coal hoppers - so it took from just before 2pm yesterday to just before 10am for Kernow to get the parcel to me - I am AMAZED!  :o

So all I can say is a huge thank you to Kernow - and they are added to my list of online companies that I will VERY happily deal with again, and that I would recommend to anyone! :admiration:

Just returned from the Nailsea Show via Richards Railways and Model Railways Direct.

Its from the latter that I managed to find the lovely 56013 shown below:

Add to this my latest eBay acquisition (in the middle of this shot):

And I am feeling I have done very well for my birthday (which is still over a week away!). Both of the above were funded mother dearest, who still likes to spoil her son who left home a decade ago  :-[ :-* :-[

They are great, very impressed so far. Shortly going to add some pics on the Class 56 thread, side by side with the Farish version (vintage 1994!).

All nice stuff, folks! A lot of people have been giving their wallets a workout! Well, not you, Skyline2uk!

That's a very nice boxed set there, Paul B, even though what I know about Polish railways could be printed on a microbe. But the brand name is formidable and the service even more so!

I have one of those old panniers too, Dave and yep, mine's a good little runner too. Shame about the detailing - still, it is a very early offering from Farish.

Nice buys, everyone.

Luckily, SWMBO understands my other passion and is happy to buy Locos etc. for birthdays! On Friday, I was the happy recipient of a new Union Mills LMS 2P 4-4-0.

Like all Colin Heard's products ( this is my fourth Union Mills loco ), it is a mighty hauler and looks really good with the NGS LMS Inspection Saloon that I got for Christmas! ( I'll post a pic of the pairing when I get a chance ).

I am a happy little N Gauger!

One thing I like about getting model railway stuff for special occasions is it makes you appreciate it more   :claphappy:

Me too - it means the person giving it put some genuine thought into the gift or at least listened to someone who knows what you like. When it turns out to be a total surprise it's even better.
