CR Signals - excellent service
« on: November 24, 2017, 04:09:24 pm »
Not sure if this is the right place but here goes.

I just wanted to post my gratitude for superb service from CR Signals. I placed the order by telephone yesterday lunchtime and the parcel arrived this morning! I think that means that anything quicker requires the use of a Tardis.

The lovely little signals included what I thought would be special orders but they already had them made up. One has a position four route indication and the other has a position light shunt signal beneath the main aspect.

I'm going to be busy tomorrow.

Yes, I’ve used them in the past and been impressed with the speed. Perhaps more important (to me, at least!) is the fact that the light doesn’t bleed through from adjacent aspects

Interesting to note about the subsidiary signal, I was going to enquire about those 8)

Sounds very similar to what I'm looking for. Could you post some close ups once they are in-situ please.

Always good to hear about great service!

Thanks
Dave

As they came so quickly the revised plan is to try to install them today (SWMBO permitting). Photos to follow.

Two aspect with position lights shown coming off for sidings at 1:33 and 3:55

All the signals are CR - I concur with the excellent service.

Cheers. Jon  :)

Signals are now located and loosely installed. As promised, here are a couple of not very good photos from my old phone as my camera battery was flat.

The photos confirm to me that the position light shunt led's are too bright but the main aspects and the route indication are fine. That just means I need to add some extra resistance. A job for tomorrow.

Nothing to watch on the box so I had a little play with resistors. An extra 10k ohm resistor seems to do the job quite nicely. The idea being to signal the route, not blind the driver. I'll only add this to the shunt signals and the position light signal as I'm satisfied with them. I'll post a couple more, hopefully better photos tomorrow.

OK, That turned out to be a little more complicated. The 10k resistor was fine for the main aspects, the position light shunt and the route indicator on the three aspect signals but the ground shunt signals still burnt my eyes out. So I added another 10k resistor to their common returns. I think the results compare well.

To sum up, the voltage was reduced overall by adding a 10k resistor. The voltage to the ground shunts was further reduced by adding another 10k resistor.
