As there isn't a 'Mildly Peeved' thread, I'll put this here as a constructive suggestion.

Please can we add 'the price of N gauge' to the list of things not to be talked about? It seems to fit into the same sort of area, where people get very aerated about unsubstantiated factoids, assumptions and opinions.

Thanks for listening!

Actually it would be interesting to collate some facts and figures on the manufacturing process from informed parties to appreciate and understand how these models come about. At least I find it interesting.

Agreed , unless you have access to the manufacturers' financial info
you're just spouting hot air.

There are some of us that have that information (and post it in general terms!) but there seem plenty of people happy to ignore it!

One could argue that prices are rather linked to politics (Chinese wages for example) and even religion (oil prices.)  However, I do propose a complete ban on Trump related posts..... :censored:

Actually everything is political, model trains are also more expensive
because a few years ago VAT increased (political), people moaning
on the forum about their doctor or hospital treatment (NHS political),
people discussing British railways, privatised  v   state owned,
no escape from politics....... ;D

I suppose you could say that he is very keen on modelling, or at least on models

I am not a fan of banning topics in general (as opposed to moderating them) but I do feel price threads tend to fall into regular patterns. Maybe we could have just 1 thread for price complaints which is made a sticky. Anyone wishing to complain about the latest price jump can be directed there and any redundant threads merged.

That would allow free discussion without cluttering up the forum.

You mean you don't read every thread on the forum as a matter of principle? What if someone gets something wrong?!?!?

Yesterday someone started a topic - observations on prices
and said he/she wasn't  trying to restart a discussion about prices
so guess what , its just a rerun of the previous topic.

I would ban people discussing their ailments, if they're ill
they have my sympathy but long threads about hospitals
and scans and pills are of no interest to me.

I don't agree (about the ban, and reading such posts is not compulsory).
I, at 67, am blessed with good health (so far so good) but I do see that a lot of folk get a lot of support and comfort from this forum.  It is not just a model railway forum, it is a friendship club.  I like it that way.
Tom.
