Evening all, most probably the easiest thing to find but I seem to be struggling!!

Where can we get suitably dressed 1950s steam shed staff from?? We have official papers to know that the shed employed  72 people in 1958 so won't have that many to populate the site BUT know that not everyone was hidden away buried under a loco so could do with a good 15 or 20 to pose around the shed at work so some good quality ready painted "noch" or equivalent.

Many thanks

Thanks Mick,  (found track shack this year and they are brilliant. Will put an official recommendation on "online shops" section)

yeah planned on some of them was hoping to find some fitters or maintenance men of some sort as well if they exist anywhere? ???

JohnN

I was going to recommend the Farish Steam locomotive staff and the traction maintenance depot workers but if you've seen that link I'm sure you will have noticed them.

Try modelu, but you got to paint them yourself.

Yeah searched them John MPD staff are too new and can't justify ruining the set in an attempt to repaint them.

Like Mrs S. Always wanting the hardest thing in the world 😤

Absolutely brilliant site w greatbatch looks like I'll be spending hundreds there and a huge new magnifying light to paint them all

JohnN

I agree. Great site added to my bookmarks. Thanks w greatbatch.

Well that's it I've just ordered 14 figures from modelu now off to work out what paint colours im missing and buy the biggest magnifying glass known to man.

The hardest part will be hiding the parcels from the missus 😯

JohnN

Let us know what you think of them when they arrive please.  :)

exmouthcraig

I will, BEFORE I attempt to paint them 😃 if I can remember how without forcing Paul (sprintex) to pull his hair out sorting it for me ill even put some pictures up.

Orders being sent Royal Mail 1st class for £2.50. Very impressed already!

They were at a recent exhibition - they photograph you in appropriate clothing + shovel etc, and then print a 3D  model of yourself in any scale!

I have looked at the modelu site in the past and they look absolutely brilliant. I reckon once you start to use them as crew and shed staff you won't be happy with just a couple. I have two locos purchased with crew already added, and how it lifts them/brings them to life.

I think I am correct in saying the 2mm society have negotiated a discount on the figures for their members. Sounds a good idea, as those with a large fleet of locos and/or a large engine shed could desire quite a number of them. As I said, once you start...

Definitely they are fantastic looking and we are constantly striving for the perfect minature world. Do like the idea of the photo of yourself to make models of. At least this way to get the one struggling with a wheel in the shed or climbing a ladder IF the cost is reasonable then worth every penny. BUT saying that what price do we put on the show winning scene as long as it's in our own layout?

Worst thing about the bad weather in our game, when we can't get on doing what needs to be done we end up sat online spending money 😯
