This post is an appeal to your generosity which Tank has agreed to - thanks mate.

We all affected by Cancer, either directly, or indirectly through family and friends. Over the years Cancer Research has made massive strides but there is still a lot to do. To do that they need funds.

On the night of 22nd September this year my daughter (15 years old) and I will take part in the London Shine Walk half marathon in the hope of raising funds. Details can be found at http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/support-us/find-an-event/charity-walks/shine-night-walk/london

Would you be able to help us?

If you feel able to help, please make your donation via the just giving links below. One final request, this is the first time my daughter has raised money this way and I want her to be encouraged. The youth of today are tomorrows fund raisers. Therefore, if you are not able to support us both I would ask you to consider supporting her rather than me.

@GrahamB

While the spare pennies aren't there right now give this a bump towards pay day and I would be more than happy to give some pennies across as they have helped both me and my dad in the past.
Mechanical issues can be solved with a hammer and electrical problems can be solved with a screw driver. Beyond that it's verbal abuse which makes trains work!!

GrahamB

I will certainly bump this as the day (night) gets closer. Lots of walks planned to prepare.

Sorted!  Well done both of you...
"When in trouble, when in doubt, run (trains) in circles..." etc.
There, doesn't that feel better?
Lovely!

I may appear to be listening to you, but inside my head, I'm playing with my trains.

Having lost both my Father and Sister to cancer with my other sister having survived it, plus had a scare myself, how can I refuse? I have managed it on your page, but am having problems with your daughters page - probably because of the  :poop: internet connection at home.  However, when the system lets me, a donation will be made to your daughters page. Good luck and as they say "good on ya".

Addit: Well, it has taken over half an hour, but I finally managed it!

I used to be indecisive - now I'm not - I don't think.
If a friend seems distant, catch up with them.

It's a good cause, so donated to both of you. Good luck.
The years have been good to me, it was the weekends that did the damage.

Many thanks for the donations so far. I'm very grateful for your support for my daughter. Please keep it coming.

The big night is now only three months away.

Practice has slowed due to my daughter sitting end of year exams but will get going again in a couple of weeks time. Because names don't match logins and we've had an anonymous donation I'm unsure who is supporting us but we are being supported. If you have supported us, thank you.

In particular I'm grateful for the support given to my daughter. Although I hope I have a few more years yet, I'm getting past it. Her generation represent the future.

Two months until the big night now.

Practice has resumed now my daughter has finished her mocks but it's rather warm. Hopefully it will be cooler come September. Just giving pages are still open if you are inclined and able to support one or both of us.

There is just over one month left until the big evening. If you haven't donated yet and want to you will find the links in the first post in this thread.

Since we signed up to this it has taken on added importance with a family member being diagnosed with this horrible disease.

Thank you in advance.

Just a little under three weeks until the big night.

This Saturday I shall be practising by walking around TINGS. For those people who prefer not to use the just giving pages I shall have sponsorship forms with me at the photo call. However I will NOT be pressing or embarrassing people to donate. If you wish to sponsor my daughter or me, please approach me.

Just back from and good day at TINGS.

I can't believe that in two weeks time my daughter and I will be walking the Shine Walk in aid of Cancer Research. Thanks to the people who have supported us to date. For those who have yet to support - there's still time!

I'm quite sure the Shine Walk won't be as much as a bunfight as TINGS was! ;)
