Shocked to receive yet more sad news this morning that Irish piper Liam O'Flynn has died at the young age of 72. Not a name that will be familiar to many people on this forum, but he was a huge influence in the world of Irish music, and one of the nicest, most self-effacing people you were ever likely to meet. We were lucky enough to see him in concert a couple of times and I always got the impression that he wasn't playing for us, but purely for his own enjoyment, and if other people liked to listen, that was fine. After one gig at the Hammersmith Irish Centre, my wife was able to quiz him about a few tunes he had played and he gave freely of his time and knowledge. He will b sorely missed.

Not been a good few days, has it?

Chris
