Minitrix New Items 2018

My favourite: The red-white 1967 Capitole with new-tool BB-9200 (scheduled for 2019). :)

But really, the prices ...
140 € for an "affordable model from the Hobby program" (!) - the old V160 "Lollo" that dates back to 1991.

I just noticed that the English version does not show prices - if you want to know then have a look at the German.

The French UIC Type Y coaches and the BB9200 represent a massive investment by Minitrix. Although the there have been good quality UIC coaches before by Dynam (then Artrain),  they were first made 30 years ago, and standards have improved considerably since then. The BB9200 was made by Arnold initially 30 years ago or so. A modern version was long overdue. The Jacquemin shape lends itself to follow up with other BB electrics from the same series - 9300,16000, 25200 etc. with some adjustments to the side ventilation shapes and layouts, and cab windows.

I like the sound of the revised SBB Re4/4 with new mechanism. I have always considered the Minitrix version of the Re4/4 to be one of the better proportioned examples of this type but it's ancient mechanism let it down.

The Ludmilla is very poor value too, Euro 200 for what is not a great moulding.  The body is 'squashed' compared to the real thing - especially noticeable in the cab windscreens, and the chassis is the same as the SNCF 72000 and the old Hornby Minitrix BR class 47...

My favourite: The red-white 1967 Capitole with new-tool BB-9200 (scheduled for 2019). :)

The money in my wallet is safe, as I don't want the Capitole set as, unlike the manufacturers oftentimes, I prefer workaday types and liveries to the 'famous expresses'.

But please everyone buy as many Capitoles as you can ;-), then Minitrix will hopefully be happy that there is the market later for a 'proper' green BB Jacquemin - but we'll have to wait until at least 2020...

The Jacquemin shape lends itself to follow up with other BB electrics from the same series - 9300,16000, 25200 etc.

By my reckoning there are 20 variants in the so-called 'BB Jacquemin' design. All use the same basic body but with variations, the five main variation areas were Roof furniture and pantographs (including for ac, dc or both electrification systems) , 'body skirts' and aluminium 'moustaches' embellishments, cab window arrangement, lateral ventilation grilles arrangement.

If livery variations are included the number of different types that would warrant separate models goes up to a staggering 86!

With reference to the UIC stock - this is a potential area of duplication/competition as I understand REE were planning to do the UICs also.

And I sincerely hope that the green liveried UICs announced will have the later grey and not the earlier silver grey, as 1978 was not long after the change to the latter colour.

Minitrix also state that the accompanying new item ref 16005 (relivery only in this case) is suitable for hauling the green UICs - well only just! BB22270 entered service in April 1978
