Sorry, I'm not Colin, but yes it is the same line!  Been part of Union Pacific since 1988, hence the number on the loco.  She's a great looking loco!

Yep can confirm Is part of the MKT line.

This is one of the UP range of "heritage" locos as opposed to the NS ones (see thread http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=17941.msg179632#msg179632

There are several UP schemes. They have only produced 14 specials/heritage in their entire history

This is the Kato Heritage range of which I own a  Katy, 2 x Union Pacific "Flag", Chicago & NW and a Missouri Pacific

[smg id=8674]plus this one[smg id=8672] not really heritage but listed under their specials.

Hi Andy!

Sorry for the name mix-up!

I was so out to impress with my knowledge of the US scene I got carried away!

Actually the only reason I posted that was because I just acquired Model Railroader's 2014 annual and some dude has a KATY layout featured in there, and thought I might show off! I know very little about American prototypes, even though I stand in awe of their layouts and modelling standards.

However, that is one great looking locomotive.

Apologies again!

Hi George, no apology necessary.  Actually, I think I hijacked this thread!

If you are interested in US modelling, I thoroughly recommend any Kato loco.  Until you've had a go at driving a Kato model, you haven't experienced the best in N Gauge or N Scale, as they call it.

And the lovely Katy model above is.....yep, a Kato.

All lovely models, guys!

And yes, Andy - I have had experience with Kato locos. That's where people who model the US scene are SOOOO lucky.

:thankyousign: I am waiting on some coaches now which will get a respray to a personal scheme to go with the "Freedom".

All in the eye of the beholder, I'm afraid. To me it looks like they have a pair of goggly eyes stickin' out the front  ;D

What he said, I think all American style locos are really ugly be they kettles or diseasels    :)
