Chris Grayling has just announced that the East Coast Mainline is to be renamed the LNER.  :thumbsup:

Well that will go with Southern and GWR
Somehow I doubt any of them will do as well as the orginals did.

well, the original LNER was a financial basket case, and if it hadn't been for government control and funding in WW2, it would probably have been bankrupt by the early 1940s and had reputation for investing in the prestige main lines while neglecting other routes (sound familiar?)... The latest incarnation can't do much worse...
