British electric locomotives on Spanish rails.
« on: October 11, 2017, 10:53:05 pm »
I’d like to start my contribution to the Forum with images of one emblematic RENFE locomotive, but  also paying tribute to british locomotive manufacturers, not only since the birth, but for  long after, as the engine I am talking was build up by English Electric, Vulcan Foundry and Westinghouse , in a Lumber of 75, and was the first modern electric locomotive upon the spanish tracks, two years before the Americans 278s, and four before the French 276s. .

Nicknamed in Spain the Inglesas (English) they arrived between 1952 and 1954, so they share many time tracks with steam locomotivas, and lasted till the end of the 70s. It was usual to find in many stations on the northwest os Spain these locomotives on one track and a steam Mikado in the next.

ARNOLD has achived a very faithful and detailed model (is my opinión) that runs very satisfactorily, even better if digitalizad, as are the two you can watch in the attached video.I hope it will be an interesting introduction to a not too well known part of continental trains, but not less exciting.

Another video, shorter, of the 7748 alone hauling the coal hoppers, showing the independence of front lights.

and lasted till the end of the 70s.

Actually the 277s ran until the early 1990s I think. I will try and post one or two of my photos of them soon.
