Posting Images From a 3rd Party Site.
« on: February 26, 2011, 03:33:53 pm »
This page will help those who use 3rd party websites like photobucket.  If you wish to upload photo's to the forum and to have them stored on the NGF's server, then please read this link:- http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=4300.0

How To Upload Pictures To The Forum By 3rd Party Websites

1. Create your account at Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket - www.Photobucket.com

2. Use the folder with your name on it or create a subfolder (recommended). You do that on the left side where it says "New Album" > Save

3.Go to "Upload Images and Videos", somewhere in the middle. Now click on "Choose Files". This will most likely bring up your "Pictures" folder on your computer (but you can select another folder). Double click on the file you want to upload. After a few seconds you will see it appear on Photobucket. Now single click on your picture. On top of the picture you will see “Resize”. The best size to pick is 640X480.

4. If you want to post this picture directly on the Forum, put your mouse/cursor over the image, click on IMG Code (last link), then right click on that and COPY.

Code: [Select]

5. Now you can PASTE this into your posting. If you chose IMG, the picture will only show up AFTER you posted. In the posting you will only see the link. If you chose "Direct link", it will just be a link.

Do your forum controls allow HTML tags to be added such as <iframe>? If so then Youtube videos could be embedded.

Hi Poliss,

I'm able to allow HTML, but I'm hoping to have a YouTube modification on here within a week so that you can just add the URL.

You're almost there!

You need to click on the code that appears near the picture and looks like this.....

Code: [Select]

I think !!
you have managed to send a link....
After resizing your picture on photobucket, to the right of your picture there is a box that says IMG Code.
click on that and it will flash yellow and say COPIED.Come back to the forum and paste it in your message

How do I link to pictures I've put in my forum album so they show up in the tutorial on fibre optic lights I've just posted?
Thanks

Hi whiteswan - I'm not 100% but if you click on an image you will get the option to "copy link location" which you can copy and paste in your post - there may be a simpler way but I'm rather embarrassed to say I haven't explored it fully  :-[

I need to write a tutorial on this, as it's a new feature. :-

Basically, once you've uploaded your pictures you will need to look out for a code that looks like this:-
Code: [Select]

You will find this on the 'Details' part of each picture.  If you need any more help then let us know.

Hi Bart,

Apologies for the delay.  I've just updated how images can be stored on the forum.

Please follow this new tutorial on how to store images on the forum (link below).  Any problems then let me know.

First save them to your local pc then click the upload images button when replying in a post, or select media and "my albums" from the top drop down bar of the forum
