Thanks for reading, The Mrs would like to go for a drive out tomorrow ( I'm in Newcastle Upon Tyne ) usually 2 to 3 hours each way and was wondering if anyone could suggest a nice little place to visit with Model Train Shop I can just randomly come across while there?

Mrs is from Cardiff originally and only moved up two years ago so all pretty new still up this 'neck' of the woods :)

Any recommendation's be very much appreciated  :beers:

York?

Could be very busy but always pleasant to visit. I found Monk Bar Model shop to be a good 'un but it may be worth checking to see if they are open.

How about visiting the North Yorkshire Moors Railway? You would have check their website to see if they are open though, but they do have a shop.

there are a couple of other model shops in York and locally:

How about north up the coast to Berwick-upon-Tweed?

Lots to see.

I got my 'Deltic' by mail order from a little shop in Morpeth called J&J Models.  They seemed really nice people.

www.jandjmodels.co.uk will, hopefully, tell you if they are open.  I imagine just a little shop but maybe the kind of place that you could 'accidentally' stumble upon!

Best wishes.

John
