I'm back sort of.....
« on: November 09, 2017, 11:47:06 pm »
After pobably the worst year of my life, I'm beginning to feel that I can once again settle into building a layout, from my wife walking out on me and divorcing me within 12months, to having to give up everything or waste money on solicitors, it's been a pig of a year, ripping up two half built layouts, to being kicked out of my home so the landlord could hike the rent for new tennants.

On October 15th this year I found myself in a 1 bed flat with little more than a sofa, bed and a few boxes of belongings that my sons managed to save before they were locked out of their home when helping me to move. If I hadn't of had the shop, I think I would have gone mad, but friends and unexpected visitors helped to keep me from doing a stupid thing during that time.

I managed to save my loco's and rolling stock from the auctioneers hammer, so I have the basis for a layout, getting started seems the hardest thing to do.

Hi Graham,

I'm so sorry to hear your news. I was in a similar situation in 2004. Not as bad in some ways but as I said similar in others. So glad you had good people to help you through. I certainly did.

Probably not much consolation now but it does get better with time.

Glad you've still got the shop (if that's what you meant?). I know that has been a struggle too ( I popped in once earlier this year and we had a good chat, mainly about Kato track). Although I'm in 'ampshire I'm way over near Bordon and can't just pop in unless I'm passing that way but hope to one day soon.

Have read your other thread so good to see you back planning a new layout.

You take care.

All the best.

Cheers weave  :beers:

Hello Graham

All best wishes.

I'm sure a new, fresh start, layout would be a splendid thing.

Take care.

Hi Graham,

I hope things pick up for you soon.  Very happy to hear that you still have your business, and especially the help and support from your sons.

All the best.

Fortunately I've never been through what you've experienced. It's past now and the only way is forward now. Good luck!

Glad to see you back again but I'm sorry to hear about all you've been through; my mum walked out on my dad after nearly 35 years and the ensuing drag emotionally and financially was difficult to watch from afar so think I can empathise. It's got better for them now though and it sounds like you're bouncing back well.

Hello Graham,

So sorry to hear your tale of woe. When my first wife and I, and my current wife and her ex, were splitting up we all made a conscious effort to remain on good terms because we knew that otherwise we would just end up feeding the meter at the solicitors and feeling bitter for life. The only advice I can offer is to try and draw a big, thick line through 2017 and regard it as a new beginning. That's obviously easier to say than put into practice but at least you have your sons to help you.

I wish you all the very best.

Chris
