What cost 1500 three years ago.

It prints from prepared .stl files from an SD memory card.

You therefore need to have the means of generating the .stl files.

There is free software mentioned in the thread on UKHD about this.

Just bought one of these for my prototyping needs. Reasons for buying this printer is that firstly its pretty cheap, has a heated auto levelling bed, large print area, Alloy chassis and frame, spare parts are easy to get, has loads of geeky youtube videos about it.

Well worth a look and cheaper than Aldi!!

Hi Paul I bought this printer for test printing as spool printers are pretty cheap to run. Final model printing for my tool making I will be buying and using an SLA Printer.

However I'm really looking forward to building, tweaking and playing with this printer to see what kind of results I can achieve. I cant see no reason why it wont be able to print off some brackets an stuff.

I'll keep you updated on the progress.

Sketchup ? Freeware, much mentioned in another forum I frequent, not yet got into 3D myself ,,, but it is getting into good price territory !

Start with downloading and learning Freecad (Its Free!) learn and design yourself some models in CAD. Then consider buying a 3D printer like This one!

For what its worth there are quite a few printers out there, the ones to choose are those that have a support page and spare parts. Forget the rest! If you want to progress onto SLA (stereolithography) Then Steve's your man (atso) he has a wealth of info regarding printing photo resin.
