The Sheaf Valley Railway - Twenty-One and Out!
« on: November 22, 2010, 10:05:46 pm »
The Sheaf Valley Railway

The Sheaf Valley Railway is a small fictional preserved railway in south Yorkshire. I am building this with a course mate and we have each decided to model one Terminus each. My end  of the layout measures 11’ x 1’ and can either be mounted table top or on its own set of legs. The layout is run using DCC and we use the basic Hornby Select controllers to keep the layout as simple as possible. Below is the original  trackplan:

I decided to expand the layout and the current plan is this:

My station is called Leadmill Genera, this has a scenic section of 8’ x 1’. This is classed as the main station on the line as it is where the loco depot, carriage shed and carriage &wagon works are based. There is a terminus which can hold a 3 coach train in the main platform and a 2-car DMU in the bay so allsorts can be seen departing north up the line. This is more of the scenic end of the line being located within the sheaf valley itself. All track is Peco Code 55 and points are electrically controlled through the probe and stud mechanism.
And here’s a few pics of the layout as it is at the moment:

And just for fun

Updates will come as and when so watch this space

It looks like you've worked hard on the planning.  It's all very neat.  The layout looks great too, and on a good solid framework.   :)

Looking good.  What do your Uni mates think?  Is it a case of loving it, or taking the mickey, but constantly looking each time they pop round?!  I know my friends always loved having a look at my layout.   :)

Well since seeing my layout i have convinced my course mate joe to do the other end of the SVR (Sheaf Valley Railway) and i would like to thank him for the name. I've also convinced three others to get (back) into the hobby and start layouts of their own :D

Looking like a really well planned little layout this. I'm looking forwards to seeing the next sections when they are built.

What did you use to construct your platforms?

Hello All!

Since i have now moved back to Uni the layout is slowly progressing, lets start of with a few overall shots.

Fiddle yard board

Scenic work has started on the second board

You may notice that there is a massive space on this board. Well this is to be filled with the carriage shed which is on its way from Jeff0052 And these are the pics i have been sent of the finished model

Gonna look good on the board me thinks :D

Laters dudes
