Not long back from the NEC and I must say it was my best visit ever :-)

Layouts were stunning this year (in my humble opinion) and I suffered very little from shove / tread on foot / dear lord man take a shower effects.

Anyway, the purpose of this thread is to show the goodies....

And the "almighty will-power Skyline" only bought this! And I would not have done had the nice lady at the (somewhat subdued) Dapol stand didn't hunt around for it. As far as I saw it was the only motored version in NSE to be had in the NEC!

That's one heck of a (nice) shopping list, PD!

Bet you came away with a huge smile on your face.

Looks like the show went well. Maybe I'll be brave and give it a go next year.

Today I bought a Grey/Blue J39

I don't know whether to return it or put in on eBay for £500

The cab side clearly shows a contrast from black to grey/blue! Must have been a Friday special!

Hmmmm.  :hmmm: That is odd, isn't it. I could probably live with it - maybe a bit of weathering, or something like that. I don't know, it's probably only noticeable when it's alongside the other one?

Your decision of course, but me being the lazy s*d that I am, wouldn't be bothered with the hassle of sending it back, I could live with it. Does it run OK? That would influence me, as well.

They both look black, or at least blackish, so I'd put it down to two different paint stocks at two different repainting works. I'd have a word with your chief mechanical engineer about getting a standard set for paint mixes. But once they have a bit of mud and grime on them, you'll never notice the difference anyway.

What's probably far more important is that they're both bug-free.

Finally got hold of a Farish Stanier 50' Full Brake, and a lovely little thing it is too!

I didn't notice the little footstep bottom right until I'd taken the photo.  No doubt I'll soon break it off, but it's nice to know it was there at the start

I must be one of E-Bays best customers since I've been laid up ill recently.  I got these for about £50 (or less) each so I don't think that's too bad a collection for £200.  The two 37's have different numbers (used but mint) and the two 47's are both "Sappers" (BNIB) from Rails of Sheffield -they'll both be re-painted in Blue livery...

I'm part way through building this brake tender the last few days, just waiting for some new bogies to come.  I'll put up a "how to" once it's finished...
