What is your favorite train Related Film of all time?

The Titfield Thunderbolt wins it for me, with honourable mentions for The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3 (original) and The Great St. Trinians Train Robbery.

Unstoppable is also well worth a watch.

Have just glanced at "runaway railway ". Those CFF films were wonderful !!

Yes, some were released by Network DVD, 2 on each DVD with a few extras. There were 4 volumes, titled 'Saturday Morning Pictures 1-4'. Some classics there, including a very young Denis Waterman in 'Go-Kart GO!', a football one with all the 1960's Man Utd team as guests, actors like Patrick Troughton etc etc. Unfortunately they seem to be deleted and fetch quite a bit second hand nowadays I believe. I managed to get all 4 when they were released luckily. There are probably more on youtube tho

Actually, that reminds me of a wonderful 1972 British horror film, called "Death Line" about cannibals living in a disused London Underground station.

Donald Pleasance is wonderful as a seedy Scotland Yard detective investigating the disappearances of folk from Holborn tube.

Can't believe nobody's mentioned The Railway Children.  Classic book and movie with great British cast - might seem a bit twee nowadays though

Well, for me it has to several that have been mentioned already like the excellent Unstoppable, The Cassandra Crossing and The Great St. Trinians Train Robbery.
But there's also Murder on the Orient Express, The Lady Vanishes, The Great Train Robbery (with Sean Connery and actually filmed in Ireland!) and of course THOMAS THE TANK ENGINE!

Do watch the Connery film if you get a chance folks. There are genuine 100 year old 0-6-0s used, and in one scene the film helicopter could barely catch the loco as it was shifting so fast. It's also a fascinating glimpse of the Irish rail infrastructure as it was thirty years ago. Ireland dieselised completely as early as 1963: but everything else was left untouched!

I was going to add The Railway Children.  I have loved that film since I was a kid.  I wanted Bernard Cribbins' job .  (And I was more than a little bit in love with Jenny Agutter ).

Wonder if anyone caught the remake/modern version? Jenny Agutter played the mother!! And Bernard Cribbins role was no other than Rab C Nesbitt (Gregor Fisher).
