Hello from another Newbie
« on: August 16, 2017, 05:09:53 pm »
Hi
Just starting out on my N gauge journey, space is going to be limited (to start at least) to quite probably 4 x 2 maybe 4 x 2.5 and that's feet not meters!
Couldn't help myself and have picked up a pre-loved Cross Country 170, I have also acquired my fathers GWR Panier tank engine, I am more drawn towards modern era and I would love to get my hands on either a Cross Country HST or a Voyager but they seem quite rare, any ideas where they can be located appreciated.
I have in mind to use the tank engine as kind of a preserved line element next to a modern mainline suburban station, a bit like Kidderminster and the Severn Valley railway.
DC or DCC well that will depend on the ability to convert the tank engine which is a Graham Farish model, I know the 170 is suitable for conversion.

Cheers

Martin

I'm sure someone will be along shortly who can help with your questions.

Welcome to the ever increasing band of N gauge enthusiasts. You'll find answers here to most questions you'd ever want to ask.
Enjoy and ask away.
 :beers:
Size matters - especially if you don't have a lot of space - and N gauge is the answer!

Hi Trunkey,

Welcome aboard as well.

First thing, if that's your max space definitely go for 2' 5" width rather than 2' as those few inches make such a difference with the radius you can have.

Have fun,

Cheers weave.
