To be called pompous and arrogant - hell of a come down.
I tried so hard to be snobbish and haughty.

Ok so this is getting silly, how thick must I be

So I have all the parts other than the motor which should be here tomorrow, all parts are connected and the sketch is loaded to the Arduino

Part of the setup is to use the serial monitor function in the Arduino IDE to identify the remote Control codes for my chosen remote and to add them into the sketch replacing the generic codes already there.

Sound simple but when I open Serial Monitor I get nothing, if I press a button on the remote the LED on the receiver flashes so i know its all connected and working but I get nothing on the serial monitor. Do I have to enter codes to get it to work or should it be working just by opening it.

I know I am missing something here but what?

Thanks again for any help for this idiot :(

Have you got the correct serial port selected? I seem to recall serial 1 on windoze was reserved for proper serial ports, not usb

@Paul-H, the line to output the codes is commented out in the sketch.

Line 324 in my IDE  '    //Serial.println(My_Hash_Decoder.hash, DEC); // Do something interesting with this value'

The Serial.println..... sends the IR Code to the Serial Monitor remove the '//' at the start of the line and upload the sketch again, should do the trick. Serial coms like this can really eat up the processing time of an Arduino, so once you know what the codes are, it's reasonable that this line can be commented out.

Cheers, Mark.

That did the trick, Thanks

Also needed the baud speed turned down to 9600 before it displayed meaningful numbers

Correct numbers added to my sketch, now awaiting the stepper to see if it works

Thanks again for all the help Guys

 :veryangry: :veryangry:

So I was in no rush so ordered the bits from China as they were silly money.

So ordered in October the Arduino board arrived then potentiometer , today the stepper motor finally arrived.  WITHOUT the driver module board!!!.

Also see I need a few more bits so thought order from Italy.  Found a site great marked Xmas delivery GREAT. Rushed the order still cost about 12 more than China but....  placed order found out its coming from a US based company and will take 24 days !!!  I think I will stick to pushing the Turntable around by hand!

Hi Jerry,
Think your last post needs transferring to the VERY Angry thread.

I ordered all my parts from UK sellers, everything apart from the motor arrived in under a week, the motor is lost in the post, sellers says he posted it, Royal Mail say he didn't.  Now awaiting it's replacement, trouble it he is the only UK seller I could find selling the specified motor, mind you at this rate it would have been quicker to get one from China.

My motor finally turned up today

All seems to work, although only working on buttons 0 to 5, although I think that's correct and the arrow buttons

Looks like it's 0 for home position set by the ok button then 1,2,3 & 4 For the next track positions, 5 for 180deg turn from start podition and then 1,2,3 & 4 for the next track positions on that side of the turntable

Probably be more obvious once it's atached to a turntable
