My bad. £85k is now the threshold, and yes there are advantages to registering for VAT early

In other trades the manufacturer offers additional trade discounts to help clear out old or slow moving stock. I assume that's what is happening with the SR vans and other items that go on sale simultaneously at several major retailers.

Yes we do get offered discounted stock, but there is very rarely a lot of it, and it is often very slow moving stuff, SR stuff goes quite well for me but you can only sell so many SR vans  :D
