Off to Germany
« on: July 17, 2017, 02:15:44 pm »

As some of you may know my Daughter and her Husband are both Combat Medics and have been posted back to Germany, which is great for me and Mrs Calnefoxile because it means cheap holidays for us   :D :D :D However I digress.....

Well we're off on our sojourn to Paderborn in a couple of weeks and I was hoping the great collective that is the NGF might be able to point me in the direction of any Shows in the region between 5th & 20th August??

Also, I know there's a Model Shop in Paderborn, but are there anymore anywhere nearby??

Cheers

Neal.

P.S. If anyone knows of any 'Roco 1955 N Roadrailer's' going then let me know please  :D :D

Modellbahnshop Lippe are in Detmold, which according to my web map is 20 to 22 miles or about 42 minutes NNE of Paderborn. They have a good online reputation and I use them a lot, but have never visited.

Details of shop and online stuff here

I visited the shop at Bremen, near Hamburg - bigger than anything in U.K.! Sign up for their club card ( free) for discounts.
Staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and usually speak good English.

Get a Metro debit card to avoid currency charges.

Browse the website for their current N bargains & sign up for their emails as well.

Lilliput, Piko & Arnold have the best prices at the moment .

A google search for "https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=model+shops+near+paderborn&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-gb&client=safari" showed 2 Modellbahn shops in town

The Wuppertal railway is 90 mins away (car) and well worth a visit - there are several Modellbahn shops that I visited, but can't remember the names!

Hi Neal,

I have no idea re. shows/exhibitions but did find this....

http://www.modelrailroadmuseums.com/index.php?page=list&country=Germany

You've probably been doing similar but in case you missed it. I know where Paderborn is but not sure how near any of the list are.

Obviously, the great thing about our hobby is you can travel by train to get there  although unless it's steam or some luxury train my wife would get bored before we arrived at the station
 :(

Anyway, hope you have a great trip and let us know how you got on.

Cheers weave  :beers: Und viel mehr Bier  :beers:  :beers:
