Doorton - A bit of a pipe dream

Apart from the roundhouse, where I have all the buildings and baseboard with the digital turntable is on route, this is a bit of fun.

More detail on the roundhouse.  As stated before, I have a 4' x 2' baseboard, and the following Walthers Cornerstone kits :-

3 Modern roundhouse stalls
3 Add-on stalls for the above
1 Machine shop
1 Maintenance depot / 2 road shed.

There will be other details to add.

It will be DCC operated.  I came up with this idea as I have quite a few North American locos and no North American layout.

The interpretation of the Dolton Junction track layout certainly looks interesting, but it looks like it would take up a fair bit of space!
Spent several hours at that location a few years back, and was able to photograph a wide variety of trains and locomotive liveries, and even saw the local working that uses a (rather nicely painted) caboose.

Would give an excuse to model the NS hauled "hot metal" train as well......

I've been looking at the "Torpedo" train!

Had 4 of those "torpedo" cars when I saw the train (on two seperate dates), each seperated by a rather battered gondola car....

Certainly going to be different. I look forward to following your progress.

Thanks for the photos 70000. I took the liberty of looking at the other photos in this album. Very good.

And, Mirrlees
You have a fascinating track plan and I'm looking forward to developments. If I can make a small suggestion, you may want to consider connecting up some track to enable continuous running. Round and round may not be your main interest, but you might want to just let the trains run sometimes.
