Glue for metal?
« on: June 10, 2017, 10:09:40 pm »
I have a Joueff 0-4-0T among the lot recently arrived from Ebay, one of the cylinders is off; both the cylinder and the cross piece it should be joined to are flat bare bright metal, I've cleaned and slightly roughened both surfaces thoroughly and tried Super glue, Gorilla and Gorilla gel to no avail. The metal appears to be ferrous so not likely to take soldering. Is a 2 part epoxy likely to work any better?

As the piston rod has to go through it drill and tap is not really an option either, very slight chance of being room to get a 16BA hole but then I'd have to disguise the screw head!
Cheers MIKE

The bigger Josef locos are made of Mazac alloy.

Araldite should be ok, but mazak has a tendency to crumble over time!!
