I did notice that the decoder was a ZIMO MX658N18 and the ZIMO 10 x 15 speaker driver was deployed (without the commonly seen enclosure as you predicted) fixed to a specially created resonance chamber in the roof of the tender top.
Bachmann Customer Support have told me in the last day or so that the Nunney Castle is indeed fitted with a MX658N18 and a ZIMO 10 x 15 speaker installed into the sound chamber which is already fitted inside the tender. They were also kind enough to send me a copy of the Sound Information Sheet that will ship with it, listing all the sound functions.

Thanks Nick,

That seems to nail it.

Can you post the Sound Info Sheet here so we can all see what's included?

The HM review mentions whistle sounds on the high F keys.

Kind regards,

Paul

I had a feeling someone would ask me that!  :D

I'm a little reluctant to post up a proprietary document in its entirety. Copyright issues, etc., etc.

That said, it was freely given and I haven't signed a non-disclosure or anything, so I don't see why I shouldn't extract the pertinent information and post up a summary or something. Give me a while - I'll try and knock something together later this evening.

There definitely are whistles....

That didn't take as long as I thought it might. here you go:

F1 – Sound On/Off
F2 – F13 – Brakes, Cylinder Drain Cocks, Toot, Reverser, Coal shovelling, Injector, Blower, Flange Squeal, Safety Valves lifting, Hand Brake, Tender Filling, Coupling
F14 – Light engine mode toggle
F15 – Fades sounds to silent (or back up)
F16 –  Guard’s Whistle
F17 to F22 –  High and Low whistles singly and in various combinations and lengths
F23 to F26 – Various footplate crew shouts
F27/8 – Volume Up/Down

Hope that helps. Any queries, let me know.

I've now installed YouChoos sounds into my Farish BR Castle using an Zimo MX681N sound card and Sugarcube 7 speaker with sticky gasket, which fits perfectly into the sound enclosure in the tender.

The installation is detailed in the Farish instructions and YouChoos provide a very detailed guide to the sound package, so it's a very straightforward 10 minute process. It looks like there aren't quite as many sound functions as the factory version, but the sounds are well synchronised and sound great.

This is my first sound-fitted loco so thanks to John at YouChoos for guiding me through the process.

With all those sounds I need a new Guagemaster Prodigy advance squared controller.  What becomes of my then redundant Guagemaster Prodigy advance controller  :-\

I thought a Prodigy would address 28 functions?

I'm stuck - I have a ZTC511, which will only address F0-F9. I think I'm going to have to make some hard choices about what to reassign where in that space.

I believe prodigy advanced squared is required for the 28 functions. Guagemaster told me as I live in South Africa, buying a new advanced squared will be cheaper than sending old in for an upgrade  >:(
