I know it's Canadian and not USA, but CN's unique SD60F is my favourite North American loco:

I am not a complete lunatic - there are pieces missing!

I like the sergeant stripes CN colour scheme even though I'm CP. Here is a loco that I'd get myself if I were doing CN:

Love the draper tapers, they're big and chunky that for sure!

Who make those SD60s and how do they run?  They're a bit big for my layout but I'm tempted none the less!

I love the GMD-1s but they are pricey!

Some of them were phased out on the east coast and I managed to get a few snaps before I really knew how unique the were...

Hi Graham,

They're made from resin kits produced by Kaslo Shops and powered by Atlas SD60 mechanisms - so they run a treat!

Very good Phil

I like the fine detail with the handrails etc. Were they difficult to build? I suppose painting would be the biggest challenge?

Thanks - they were a bit of a fiddle. Fine if you're used to working with resin and etched metal, but if you hadn't done it before, they'd be a tough project. Painting wasn't too bad, but decalling was a challenge - the stripes are decals. Lots and lots of Solvaset needed to get them snugged down over all the hinges, rivets and stuff on the long hood sides. Really happy with the result though - they're every bit as good-looking as my RTR stuff, and oodles more satisfying!

My favourite diseisels are the early units such as pioneer zephyrs, doodle bugs and such, early engines had a certain cache about them.

And my favourite place to see deisels. (I'm expecting a lorry load of raspberries  for this)  is in the scrap yard, said with a large tongue in a small cheek. I am basically a steam fan but I do appreciate the early evolution of oilies.

Hi Mike,

I'm new to N gauge, new to the forum and this is my first post.

To answer your question it has to be (for me) the G.M. Aero train based on looks alone. It's no coincidence that the cab looks like a car and the passenger cars look like a bus, but the styling of this train just shouts 1950's America to me.
