Title: Tomytec to produce German trams
Post by: railsquid on August 10, 2017, 01:45:09 am
Delighted to see Tomytec will be launching a pair of German trams this year, the Berlin GT6N and the Munich equivalent:

Look forward to adding these to my fleet of 27 German. Japanese and North American trams.

Interesting. I am sure these will be popular, particularly the articulated power chassis.

Given none of the current Tomytec chassis are DCC ready, or even 'friendly', I strongly suspect they won't be.

Hello all,

Interesting - thanks for posting.  I don't read Japanese but the graphic seems to suggest the models will be to 1/150 scale - which is actually closer to British than Continental scale.

Does anyone know if trams like these are similar to those in operation in the UK?

Cheers

Ben A.

Hi Ben,

No, none of the UK trams is similar to this type.

This is another manifestation of the tendency towards co-operation between Japanese and German manufacturers. This is a continuation of the link between Tomytec and Faller whereby the Tomytec bus system has been extended to German buses (another JP - DE tie up is Kato with Noch on the Glacier Express stuff)

.

The Faller RRP for a Munchen tram startset (ie tram with Tomytec tram track set) is showing as Euro 230, so pricey...
