Latest weather report shows M8 closed in both directions and the M74 in danger of closure at several points.  No flights from Heathrow and trains heading North restricted to 50mph.

A means of drive whereby the rear of the vehicle tries to over-take the front?  :confused2:

An element of skill / driving ability is required...   ;)

The rear wheels drive and the front wheels steer. You are Jeremy Clarkson and I claim my £5 prize.

I drove up and down the M74 frequently many moons ago and it's not the best place to be in bad weather

The only cars available to my pocket for the first 10 years of my driving career were all rear wheel drive, right up to a Rover 3500s.  What a blessing when we could afford to buy a Mini-Cooper. The thrill of torque steer for the first time was breath-taking and our normally snowy winters became a breeze!  8)

Unfortunately, I never drove a fwd truck or bus in 45 years!  :hmmm:

Cazadoom

Ran the gauntlet of storm Doris this morning,

All okay apart from the very wet bit at Blackpool, and a truck that had been blown over on the southbound carrigeway

snow didn't start falling until around 40 miles from Glasgow,

i know the main motorways M8 and M80 were closed

chose the safer/ more riskier route of the A702 across to Edinburgh which was BAD ... But still passable

Better than Doncaster, They will steal the front end off your car!

DELETED

Update from my family in Falkirk area is blind uneccesary panic.  Roads not that bad-it is winter.

..as for you doubters. 350bhp through the rear wheels is worth 150+ from the front any day. I hate winters, nobody knows how to drive then its made worse the minute it rains or it gets cold.

I think this topic title needs to be amended
The issue only affected morning commuting traffic, delays of up to three / four hours
I had no problems travelling around the M8, M80, M74 yesterday, and were actually quieter by late afternoon
