Thank you, Chris

A very fine location with the MR branch to Hawes and that famous turntable.

Best wishes.

The Table-Top Railway is a train set trying and failing to be a model railway.

I believe that train sets and model railways are fun.

The track plan is exactly as it was in the 1950s. The station is pretty much scale length but the sidings between the  station and the viaduct have been shortened.

We are using analogue track power. Point control uses the MERG c-bus. This might sound odd but it was the best fit for members and the track plan.

As we are trying to get it ready for exhibition we are working on the scenery before the electrics are complete. A recipe for problems but needs must.

The turntable will work. Maybe we will just put a loco on it and leave it going round and round!

Also started building the station platforms.  Not enough progress to photograph.

All looks good so far.
If it looks right then it most probably is right.

We are doing things in a rather strange order in working on the scenery while the electrics are nowhere near finished.
We do have controls panels and a lot of wires. All fairly neatly running along the back of the back scene. Trains can complete a circuit but all the frogs have yet to be wired to change polarity when the points change.

Thereís a long way to go yet. I think the class 37 is having a sleep while waiting for more progress.

The full wiring has a long way to go but a few of us will spend a couple of days making sure the main running lines will be operating on our club open day. All welcome of course.

Meanwhile the wiring is taking lots of work. We found an interesting little feature tonight. Very old Farish locos seem to send out messages that cause the MERG c-bus controlled points to change as they go round the track.  This is a very odd thing to see happen; I may not have believed it if I hadnít seen it for myself. Points were just changing with nobody near the control panel. Newer locos seem to be fine.
