My understanding is that they did get up to the borders but not 100% on Glasgow. I will be doing some more reserch on this if we can make them and maybe do a map to help modelers out

What's wrong with the Union Mills one?

Sorry mate, missed your post. I personally have no experience in manufacturing a model locomotive, which is why I am merely a project manager, and experienced people will be involved in the process.
I spend mush of my time mooching around emailing and ringing people for information, and arranging access for scans for when we are good to go. sorting out pricing, commission for other people involved etc.

It's all very quiet isn't it. It's amazing how much time I seem to spend just waiting for information from people. This time it's waiting for the factory to give better quotes for both N and OO gauge models of the N2 and Quadart Coaches. I would expect they will be reasonably close to the original for the N2 in N, but with the pounds woes, and China getting more and more expensive. . . (hence why we've supplied drawings and asked for new pricing). Given the issues with China, which UK manufacturer will take the plunge and open it's own UK factory? is it even Viable to do so?

Without going down the same route of the numerous threads on this topic AGAIN, the simple answer is no not yet ;)

As said, that's been done to death elsewhere on the forum.
Do we have a UK manufacturer? Maybe only Union Mills.
Apart from the lack of detailing on a level with Farish/Dapol perhaps Colin Heard is your best chance of bringing this to fruition :hmmm:

fair play, was general musings. In terms of "uk manufacturer" despite foreign ownership, I would still class farish as UK for the purposes of the RTR market here, and Dapol are certainly a uk owned company, but of course both companies do manufacture elsewhere.

Farish was purchased by Kader Industries in 2001 so is, strictly speaking, not an English company unlike Dapol.

Hey Martyn, sorry there has been no update, real life kicked me in the knackers, I had a major case at work, still ongoing, lost a close relative, and had surgery. As we weren't at a stage where money was being taken I'd put on hold. Also had a couple of cryptic messages about a major manufacturer doing the N2, so was waiting to see how that panned out. Let me get back on this now, and see where we can go with it. Cheers

Unfortunately not. This is the reply to a similar question i posed on the project's Facebook page: (all typos are the original authors)

"UPDATE April 2018. Ok so here is the deal. The project has a few issues
1) The Fall of the pound, this makes things more expensive when sourced from abroad, sadly due to the wholesale move of UK manufacturers to chinese plant's, there are no viable UK manufacturing facilities. so, prices will go up... just look at th latest Farish prices!
2) Real Life. I've changed job and have less free time. Downside to being a one man band. I don't have the luxury of being able to call on others
3) Lot's of negativity and abuse, yes really... yu try to do something nice and , well, lets just say some people need a slap off their mothers. I'm pretty thick sinned but it has made me wonder why bother
4) with the exception of the Pendolino, and probably the class 92, crowdfunded models to date have been a mxed bag, even revolution who set the ball rolling have canned a couple of projects, and we see Dapol cutting back too. It's not the best time for N Gauge I don't think

However despu
ite that, I would still like to push on, maybe have a sit down and reset expectations and look at the best options available"
