As an aside and getting ahead of ourselves one technical hitch would be getting the headlamp units (WIPACS) on the nose end working certainly possible  but a royal PITA to get thin enough and painted with surface mount LEDs and with light guides not likely to work. However is a simplification a step to far to have these as dummy, given likely to be "in train" rather than leading.
Might make the engineering simpler to justify.
cheers
Robert

Hi All,

Ok added another poll option as @robert shrives requested, as @Ben A says they don't want to look at another powered model until the Pendolino arrives on our door mats which I think is a fair stand point as both himself and @red_death are doing this in their spare time then they want a life outside of work!

As pointed out Bachmann have the 20s done  with a newer DCC chassis they would be the perfect people to go with on this may it be a co-operation or a special commission. With this in mind would there be an option maybe to also look at doing it as a NGS item along the same terms as the Inspection Saloons with a 2 year exclusivity agreement?
This will then get another model to market and allow Bachmann to get their profits back long run to which makes it a more rewarding proposition for them as an manufacturer, I now know from experience that to many working parts can at time make things hellish and less appealing to manufacturers.

On a personal and Business note I look at this as a good class 20 model with lots of potential which can fill a decent void in the modern era with plenty of plus factors such as:

National coverage
Seen in many a combination
Been in use for almost 20 years
Can be used an small trains (such as the flask trains)
Needs not much other readily available stock to my a prototypical train (flasks and maybe the escort coaches)

Of course there are negative factors:

Modern era only
The big one for anyone wanting to take it on may have to partner with Bachmann.

Of course I say a co-operation but enough of us say we want it then it could always be as simple as telling Bachmann directly we want these there is plenty of us and well to some degree its a lot more simple than designing a complete new model!

Why would Bachman need to design a new DCC chassis? My understanding was that the present chassis was issued with the latest body tooling, which isn't that old?........

Do Bachman have these models in their OO lineup?

Hi

I think you may have misread the post. I read it as Bachmann have a class 20 with a new DCC ready chassis so would only need a few modifications to the body rather than Revolution trains starting from scratch.

Cheers

Paul

Okay, I see what you mean Paul. I read it as the double space being a typo for a missing period. as in 'As pointed out Bachman have the 20 done. With a newer DCC chassis they would be the perfect........'
