Are these similar to the Hitachi multi-mode trains ? If so, GF/Dapol might have a go??

Add:

They are basically the same!

They are the White Sonic from Kato. Don't think there is much chance of Kato making it in Southeastern though :(

Have not got the courage to buy a White Sonic and repaint it  :worried:

Javelin operating area and therefore market too small for Revolution I would have thought.

Currently being developed. CEO in UK promised drawings, but Japan have not provided yet.

They also said I could have copies of the IEP drawings at some point.

It will be a kit, along the lines of my other kits, with everything except the motorised chassis.

I think the White Sonic would need quite a lot more work than a repaint.

Three conspicuous differences, ranked in order of difficulty of conversion (simple to complex):
  • The White Sonic has exposed underframe equipment vs. panelled on the IEP.
  • White Sonic's pantographs are mounted on passenger cars vs. driving car mounted on the IEP.
  • The windows and doors are arranged differently.

These aren't the only differences, but IMHO these are the minimum one would have to address for an acceptable representation of the IEP.

Hello all,

I think the IEP family are going to be a "must-have" for the N gauge RTR market going forward, but while I have no concrete information I cannot believe that either Farish or Dapol won't step up.

The Javelins are arguably a little limited, but the IEPs are going to be the staple East Coast and Great Western trains for the next three decades.

But as with the Pendolino, if after a couple of years neither of the main manufacturers has indicated their intention then we would look at it seriously.

cheers

Ben A.

With Hornby having announced the IEP it looks unlikely farish will produce one in N so Dapol could step up. But based on the 50 and 142 the IEP's will be retired long before we see an N gauge version. :uneasy:
