Hi done the deed as well !  A good move all round as its the first city of the north and home to CW games in 2020 - we won a competition to host them - albeit we were the only ones to enter.........

I would love to have a City if Birmingham. And voted for it in the original poll. But after the house purchase I canít afford it 😢

Is there a way of swapping my Business is Great for a Birmingham version? Or if anyone would like to swap I would be happy!

And even then it wasn't a surefire result!

Hi folks

Thanks for the great response to the surprise announcement of City of Birmingham (it was a surprise to us as well when Rapido told us!). Over half have sold since I sent out the email early this morning.

Apologies to anyone struggling to place an order - we know that there is an issue with the Bad Gateway error, but ultimately it requires us to rebuild the site on a better host - the server has been struggling to cope with the traffic.

As noted elsewhere and on our website - we expect to have a very limited number of spare sets of the "normal" ie previously announced names/numbers/liveries though they won't go on sale until we have sent out all the existing orders and we know exactly what we have left. It is highly unlikely that we will have many or any 5 car sets (or 2 car extension sets) as these were the least popular by far.

Now to start working through discount refunds - probably a job for Sunday.

Cheers, Mike

That's a shame, might have been persuaded.

Mike or Ben, how easy would it be to take out the dcc sound kit from one Pendo and reinstall into another?

Hi Gareth,

All driving cars (sound and silent) are speaker fitted, so switching is relatively trivial - just a question of swapping decoders for blanking tabs.

Cheers

Ben A.

While off topic is this the same for the class 92?

Delighted with the "City of Birmingham". It was my original first choice too, but delighted to have it with the livery variation. Pleased to read that they are selling quickly too. Great initiative from Rapido, but not altogether surprising given Jason Shron's passion for the city and its transport. Urbino tram up next then.

I'm only guessing but the mail was from RevolutioN so would assume a similar would be forthcoming from Rapido for those who ordered from them.
Hopefully @red_death and/or @Ben A could confirm what you need to know, John.

Im in the US and got the Pendolino plus email, so naturally I ordered one, it said the order was received, many thanks to Rapido for doing this, and to Revolution for the model, all thats left is for you guys to disclose where to find you as my wife won't like the latest purchase (she might want words, lol)!!!! she thinks trains are silly anyway.

Good to hear they are on their way, and that the surprise additional variant is selling fast (either means there are relatively few of them, or that uptake is fast - perhaps not surprising as the price is actually pretty damn good given a 6 car blue Pullman is about the same nowadays).

I suspect there's a lot more to come here too - after all with Virgin revising the liveries on these (admittedly debatable if the new one is that attractive.....), I can't see you guys or Rapido waiting too long to produce them in the new style too.

I guess the only minor thing is that if you want the internal lighting for this new variant, it might not be possible? Or have Rapido produced some extra lighting sets too?

Cheers,
Alan
