Hi Jonclox

I know exactly how you feel.
Up until last year I had been looking after my ailing father who had a couple of things wrong with him. Once we got past the GPs and to a consultant who happened to be, in my opinion, a proper doctor only then did things start to happen as they should do.
Getting past the GPs was our problem who, again in my own opinion, do not have a clue as to what they are doing. Even when you tell them what the problem is they just ignore you, saying it can't be that until days/weeks later they eventually find out it is that. By which time the problem has compounded.

Hi Joe 90
We have the reverse situation here  ::) My GP is and always has been most helpful but the consultant who he has had to send me to see is just going ahead with his plans without letting me know a thing.
I may as well be just a number on a piece of paper and not a human being to be informed or consulted. He could sort my prostrate out by tried and tested means but has decided to try me out on a new treatment course and sent me to see his anaesthetist today to see if I could take a general anaesthetic....of course nobody at the hospital knew about it or my apointment etc etc etc  >:( at the end of my visit I was told by the anaestetist that the next I will hear..quite soon probably... is what date the ops. going to be on.
Great stuff ::)

How about a lobby to BAN all sport from television, or have dedicated channels for it instead of screwing up the main channels schedules, I get sick of S.W.M.B.O. whining about missing her soaps etc!
Male children never grow up, we just get older and our toys become more expensive!

It does tee me off the BBC has channels BBC3/BBC4 and the red button but 3 & 4 don't start until 7pm and the red button is underused and when it is used, a lot of it is just on a loop.
ITV4 carries some good motorsport but ITV3 is just full of rubbish repeats >:(

I would like to see dedicated channels for sport and soaps

There seems to be some anger here, how about a rousing chorus of "O' Solo Mio"?  ;D

... and the antique, selling/ buying houses/ property, cooking, game shows, mind numbing chat shows with people past their use by dates expired - this could almost be a new topic   :smiley-laughing:

Ah...British television, the envy of the world. ;)

Jack

As a family we got sooo feed up of repeats and soaps that we returned our TV licence over 5 years ago. We've never looked back. SWIMBO does miss Wimbledon but she can watch the highlights on her net book.

Personally  I'm not a watcher of any over paid sport persons. No one is worth that sort of money for just playing sport. Before I start to rant I'd better stop.
Today's Experts were yesterday's Beginners :)

What annoys me is how Sky/Eurosport dictate the way that sport is run in this country e.g. kick off times. I am a Harlequins rugby fan and last year we reached the final of the Amlin cup to play Stade Francais which was played at Cardiff City football station on a Friday evening. The  kick off time was such that the last train back to London left before the end of the match - all because of TV schedules. Absolutely bonkers!

I also think that the income that football clubs get from the TV deals encourages some clubs to live beyond their means.
Just one Pendolino, give it to me, a beautiful train, from Italy

I've been lost since the sixties Mick

Pete Mc

I've got the full Sky HD package, with a hard drive half full of Sky Plus loveliness.I know its quite pricey, but I justify it by actually staying in and watching it.I can't go out too much due to a company drink and drug policy, and a railway habit that is also quite expensive.
While I know some of you won't contribute to the Murdock dynasty in any way, shape or form I just don't think I'd be able to get by without it.I seldom watch anything the BBC produce,Top Gear and a few other things,so thats my justification over.

Now for the other subject:

FOOTBALL

I'm sure that everyone has their own idea about team formation and such like,I had an idea that perhaps no one else may have thought of.

Premiership footballists all like their cars, right?

Well,my idea is this.

Why don't the FA approach a car manufacturer, say Bugatti or McClaren, and commision them to build 22 or whatever the number of players are allowed to go to a tournament, that are exclusive to them at whatever cost, that will never be replicated anywhere else as a reward for winning the Euro's or in the next case,2014 World Cup.It has to be unique,so they are the only people who own such a car.It will be expensive but as all these so called players earn £200k plus a week, there is currently nothing else they could possibly want.
And if they lose and crash out, they don't get a plane ticket home. Not even if they pay for it themselves.

I have a plan for this as well.

If they lose, what they have to do is drive the worst car ever made home, all the way to their big houses as a preverbal walk of shame. As the tournament was held in Ukraine and Poland, how about a Lada or FSO Polonez.Old preferably and with defects that mean it will be an experience they will not want to repeat.Make it a kind of Cannonball Run type thing where they have checkpoints so they actually drive the things and not get picked up in shiny 4x4's and then put in the sheds a few miles from the checkpoint.
Just an idea,thats all.

As for last night, they played like overpayed nancy boys.I lost interest after the last world cup, what with all the "its our turn to win"rubbish,so I'm not disappointed at all.

One question though.
Does anyone think that Italy's manager looked like a mafia kingpin?
Or is it just me?

I could well imagine him speaking in hushed tones, threatening them with finding a decapitated horses head in bed with them instead of their wives or womenfolk. ;D

Nice to see the crew back home are getting the same crap on TV as we are here in Oz

Soaps, reality shows and cooking shows whats the world coming to, I sometimes think the population has turned into a load of freaks

As for sport, if they took sport out of Australia the place would collapse as sport over here is a religion with people worshiping over paid morons that run around with their shorts stuck up the crack of their behinds in a thing called Aussie Rules Football, then we have the cricket team OMG I wont go there

As for our health system, compared to you lot back home we are pretty lucky, even though people moan about the system there are plenty of good GPs and if you are really sick there is no problem getting into a hospital the see a specialist and get fixed up
Keep on Smiling
Dave.
