Title: Are other auction sites available?
Post by: emjaybee on May 30, 2018, 04:50:24 PM
There's a thread trundling along at the moment regarding the (lack of) auction site EBay.

As per the title, what other auction sites are available on the internet?

:confused2:

The-Saleroom has online auctions, or rather is an online portal for real auction houses.

If you're used to eBay you're in for a shock - 25-30% commission on the hammer price (payable by the buyer) postage often £25 minimum regardless of item price and sometimes not offered at all!

eBay is still far and away the best I think.

Here in Switzerland eBay is just nothing.. Ricardo.ch rules our market. Most important feature is the fact that the site requires address validation by special letters when opening an account...

Vectis used to be good, but got rather too well known very quickly and bargains are far and few between, always worth a look though.

You can also google you local auction houses, stuff does come up from time to time
