When I tried to couple and uncouple the two coaches at T I N G S I found it was very easy  I was told to just push them together on the track and then just gently pull them apart but Im glad Ben says there will be spare couplings in the box just in case I do break one ,and I would think that Revolution or  Rapido will be able to supply more if required .

Hello all,

Here's an update on the packaging for those interested....

All the models are supplied in Kato-style book sets, comprising two inner gatefold boxes holding the models in a foam tray, and an outer sheath.

The top tray contains the two power cars, the panto car and the centre car, the lower tray contains the remaining four or six cars to make the complete set.  The 5-car unit is of course a single tray.

This shows the inner trays slid half out the the outer sheath.  The outer is full colour, the inners are printed in greyscale.

Taking the top tray out and opening it reveals the model.  There is a thin foam sheet above it (moved into the lid for this pic so the model could be seen) and as supplied all the models are in small polythene sleeves.  Also, please note this packaging has been revised by Rapido slightly - they have specified dark grey foam trays for the production models as they felt white could get grubby.

And this shot again from our stand shows how the Pendo  packaging "sits" with other models with a common brand identity...

From back to front we have the Pendo, TEA triples and Class B singles.  Although the Class B is sourced from a diferent factory the models are designed to complement each other and create the impression of a coherent "range" - though it's not really a range as the models are not permanently available...

Cheers

Ben A.

Looks amazing. I think you're absolutely right to try and create a coherent 'brand' even if the stock isn't sitting on the shelves.

Brand! so when do we get the mugs, T-shirts and cuddly toys :D

Seriously, I keep my models in stock boxes except the big sets like HST voyager etc. and these boxes look great.

What will their degradation be like as the Kato ones are plastic which take the knocks of the world in their stride.

Are the trays A4 and are they glued in or loose.  If they could be removed for day to day use they could be used in A4 plastic storage boxes.

For Ben or Mike.                 Will the Pendo additional lighting units to fit in the unlit coaches be available at the same time as the Pendo sets. ? or will these be coming later  I have 2  9 car Pendos on order plus additional lighting units.

Hi Bret,

At Warley Rapido said the light bars are being sent at the same time as the production batch, so very soon now we hope.

I think it is unlikely they will be bundled together though, and when we send the models out for reasons of practicality we may have to send them under separate cover - ie get all the Pendos out, then send the light bars to follow.

Cheers

Ben A.

Hi Mick,

The two car add-on sets will be individually packed in the usual clear plastic boxes with a card sheath to protect them

Cheers

Hello all,

Revolution is receiving lots of emails from people wanting to buy any extra Pendolinos.

Rapido have told us there will be some spare/extra sets, but our primary focus is on fulfilling the orders from those who purchased before the deadline, and we will only be looking at selling any extras after that.

For a more detailed update see the website here: http://www.revolutiontrains.com/news/

Cheers

Ben A.

I understood the lighting to be fitted when ordered at the same time as the Model? Is this going to be an easy plug and play fit and how simple is it going to be to open each coach body?.
Geominster was my first project which has now been dismantled.

Having learnt so much from Geominster this is the new project.

All sets will have lighting in the driving cars and lit table lamps in first class.

The additional light bars were never offered factory fitted I'm afraid - it would add too much to the cost plus it would effectively double the already high number of variants.

The light bars are a simple plug fit and the body shell (while tight fitting) just pops off after you unclip the valances. I'm sure we can sort out a video to show people how it works.

Cheers Mike
