Only just found this thread and it's too late, very impressed with the long trains, looks really good. I will be really interested in your new layout when you get round to it. I am in Radcliffe just down the road from you, I started to build a layout "Radcliffe North Junction" but I was having running trouble so have dissembled it and have started to build a new layout in modules so it will be easier to work on and be easy to move in the future. I look forward to seeing your new layout, I like your woodwork it looks far better quality than my work,it's given me a few ideas for my layout modules too,so thanks for that.

I also have only just found this thread and am very sad that it's too late. I, too, was very impressed with the long trains from a period I remember very well. A really superb, highly realistic layout. Why was it abandoned and what will, I hope, replace it, please?

It will be back...faster, sexier, louder...well, it'll be back anyway.  Despite knowing this it was rather harrowing taking a scorpion saw to it yesterday.  I've added some extra bracing underneath and some extra coach bolts so it should go back together without too much trauma...in theory.

It will be in it's new lair by the end of October so rebuilding should be a nice winter project.  The countryside end will just need a little patching but I'm still dithering over the other end.  While I would like a little more interest and functionality I don't like clutter and tracks everywhere.  Watch this space.  :D

Phew!! That's a relief, I thought it was the end Mike.

Good luck with the rebuild!

Cheers
