Pink Floyd The Wall 2011 Remastered (Deluxe Experience Edition).

I now have this third copy of the album, largely purchased for the bonus disc 3.  I doubt my old ears could tell the sound qualities of the remastering.  I already own the original and the live version (which I was fortunate to see at Earl's Court in 1980 at the age of 16).

Disc 3 is a bunch of original demo material.

The original of Another Brick Pt 2 would not have been the Christmas No 1 in 1979!  It started out as a little acoustic number :-\ and seems to have evolved into something sounding more like the final version of Part 1.

Interestingly Part 1 wasn't about his dad to begin with... The lyrics originally began "We don't need your adulation, we don't need your starry gaze", which would seem to be a reflection of Roger's emotional separation from the fans that came to a head (according to Mr Waters) when he spat at a fan climbing onto the stage.

There's a very different, but rather good, version of "Young Lust".  And "Teacher Teacher" seems to be a track that ended up on The Final Cut as "The Hero's Return".  It's interesting too how the lead guitar bits are mostly completely missing.  Without Dave Gilmour adding his magic, it would definitely not have been one of the greatest albums ever created.  I do wonder how much better it might have been had Waters let Gilmour have a bigger hand in it.

Rick Wright's  Hammond organ seems to have featured more prominently on these early versions.

"The Doctor" (Comfortably Numb) was very similar musically but the words in the verse were very different...  The doc telling Pink to pull himself together... :smiley-laughing:  No big second guitar solo either.

Some of the tracks are from master tape, and you can hear the tape hiss.  How long since I heard that?!? :smiley-laughing:

Fascinating listening. 8)

After a bit of digging in my old (home made for home use only) CD box, I found The Free Story (ALL Right Now; My Brother Jake).
